Ming Che is a Triad gang leader from the Hong Kong area.
About
- Ming Che sells herbal medicines in an Asian market district in Boston. His shop on Ping-On Street, is a front for illegal human-trafficking and illegal drug sales. He smuggles Chinese nationals to the Boston area on small freighters and enters them illegally into the country at a local port. They receive directions, or transportation, to his herbal shop. In his shop he has a large bunk room, and a makeshift lab. His gang, the Sun Hong Triad, infect their human cargo at the beginning of the ocean voyage with a parasite that feeds and grows within its human host. At the end of the voyage, Che harvests the mature parasites from his dying human cargo (incubators) after they arrive at his shop. With the large hookworms removed from their human host, Che removes the lymph glands from the parasites and converts them into a valuable powder that contains a remarkable immune boosting property. Che uses a shell company to sell the illegal medicine to people with chronically deficient immune systems.
- Ming Che sold the illegal hookworm powder to Elizabeth Jarvis using his financial alias John Hsu and his shell company Beijing Executive Construction.
- Ming Che enlists his brother Pan, and another triad gang member, to locate Walter and Astrid after they left his herbalist shop.
- Ming Che attempts to force Peter Bishop to ingest a parasitic hookworm after his makeshift lab was discovered.
- Ming Che is shot twice in the chest by Olivia as she raids his shop to save Peter.
- The Fringe Division initially had no information about Ming Che, but reported that John Hsu (whereabouts unknown) had set-up shell companies to cover the financial aspects of the criminal activities surrounding his leadership in the Sun Hong Triad. Elizabeth Jarvis had transferred $500,000 to one Hsu's companies. After turning-up more financial records at Ming Che's herb shop, six other immune deficienct clients were located, and that Ming Che's and John Hsu (an alias) are one in the same, the triad leader.
Quotes
- "Open. Open. If you try to chew this, it will kill you." (to Peter, as he tortures him trying to get him to swallow a hookworm and become a human host)
