WROE
Continuity? WROE is a radio station near Oshkosh (by-gosh) - 94.3 FM. The TV channel is 2... but looks like it might be WRQE. The Q is stylized and runs under the E and the 2. This is a question, not a statement. My digital copy does not have enough detail... plz, someone check. I could not find a WRQE, but Boston 2 is WGBH in the real world. Methinks. –DocH– my edits
- I think you're right. The station probably is a non-existent WRQE-2, similar to the WNKW-42 featured in Unleashed. I'll fix it.--Jim 14:16, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed. Is this a standardized system in which some call letters are reserved for fictional stations, similarly to using 555- when reciting telephone numbers?--Jim 14:23, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- I also think that both stations fall under 'General' trivia and not 'Production' trivia. My understanding is that 'Production' is about what happens behind the scenes and not on camera. Better yet - a fictional TV station on a fictional show? probably not trivia... just storytelling. I think it is trivia when they accidentally use real call letters. –DocH– my edits
- I have no problem with that change. I picked "Production Notes" after I realized that "Continuity Errors" was wrong.--Jim 20:45, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Add "WPKW," the station broadcasting news of the aircraft being burned in Pilot. Are we chasing our own tails? -—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jim in Georgia (talk • contribs) .
- 1. The other voice on the tape William Bell. William Bell was Walter Bishop's science partner and Walter Bishop's voice can be heard on the tape as well. 2. Boston news reporting on New York traffic may simply be a production oversight; the show is filmed in New York City. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Loomis (talk • contribs) . on the theory page- relocated by –DocH– my edits
Parallels
Anyone notice the similarities between Nick and Olivia? Olivia got up in the morning, did exercises, went to her wardrobe of black/gray clothes... then off for coffee. Nick got up, exercised, closet of black and gray clothes, then coffee cup (plus pills X 5). Didn't his monologue about soldiering have a line about the dark clothes? –DocH– my edits 02:44, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, on the DVD commentary for this episode, Akiva Goldsman admits this was intentional directing, as he wanted to establish the connection between Olivia and Nick further.Dr Bishop 04:52, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Olive?
Did the Bell's voice on tape really said "It's allright Olive"? I've got subtitles where this moment is transcribed as "It's allright, all of us". My native language is not English and despite it doesn't sound like "all of us" to me but it certainly has something like "--s" at the end of sentence. --Dimonium 10:50, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'll have to watch again, but it seems logical for it to be "Olive." Why else have Nick address Olivia as Olive if not to establish a link to the final scene?--Jim 12:38, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- The transcripts here are accurate when WALTER (not Bell) says, "It's alright Olive" in the last lines of the episode. I just double-checked for the fifth time. Closed captioning has Olive also. –DocH– my edits 18:02, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Comments
- It's impossible to get a stroller through the type of turnstile the young mother took at the station. She might have used either the emergency exit or a 1/2 turnstile instead.
- What is wrong with the Bishop's hotel room? It seems to keep changing: this week, the TV cabinet is gone, but there's a piano with a glass tank and a rodent on top, different furniture, a fridge and books all over the place.
- Forgive & correct me if my 1st contribution is in the wrong place here, but I just had an amazing little coincidence :
I'm watching Season 1 for the 1st time, and had just gotten a ways into "Bad Dreams". Just after the scene where Olivia & Peter decide to head to New York, exciting Walter with the chance to see a show, like "Pippin !" ( as he exclaims ), I opened a 2nd browser window to idly see John Nobles' earlier career work. This includes his role as Denethor in "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", where his character is soothed by the songs sung by . . . Pippin !! ( an inside wink from the writers ? )
Next Episode Clue - DVD commentary
I finally got around to watching the commentary of this episode on the Season One DVD, which is done by Jeff Pinkner & Akiva Goldsman. During the commentary, Pinkner points out the Next Episode Clue for "Midnight", which is different than that one suggested here. It occurs when Nick Lane is walking down the street, attracting people to him with his mood, at the moment when a construction worker begins to follow him from under a canopy/street vendor umbrella. Written on the umbrella is "Night Stalker Energy Drinks", an obvious reference to Valerie Boone's killings seen in "Midnight". Pinkner also mentioned that the clues in each episode are always "visual/written", so I wouldn't be surprised if we've got a few other ones wrong. Also, in the scene where Nick Lane takes a gun from the drawer in his apartment, Jeff Pinkner points out that a component of David Jones' "test box" (which Olivia retrieves in "Ability" that contains the light board test, amongst other items) is seen in the drawer..I compared to the scene in "Ability", and it is indeed the black gameboard-looking piece. I'll go ahead and add it to the "Bad Dreams" page, but if someone else could find a screencap of the proper next episode clue of the umbrella, that'd be great as I am unable to. Dr Bishop 00:23, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps a inside reference to the show "Night Stalker" (recent remake series) which features an opening theme song similar to Fringe?--UrPQ31 02:20, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
