Skin/Background
It may just be my aged eyeballs, but I have trouble seeing the links at the top of the windows (Page, Talk, Preferences, etc.). Is there some way to add a more neutral background? Thanks. --Jim in Georgia 13:18, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- It is hard to read. Maybe we can just make the text a different color? --Dennis 17:12, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- I like the background. Just change the text to more brighter font.--GreenRabbit 17:53, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think we should just take the bubbles in the top left corner and copy them into the top right corner, making those buttons white in the process. if that is what you're talking about.--Quantumkid 17:00, 19 September, 2008 (UTC)
Section Glyphs
I think the glyphs in the section headers took up too much space. If anything, I'd like to tighten everything up - there's a lot of wasted space on the page. I have removed the glyphs, and put them in a random rotation in the MainPageIntro --Dennis 17:12, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- the pattern icons appear over the text. --Nicholasbmoore 00:44, 19 September 2008
- This appears to only be a problem in Internet Explorer. I'll look into it... --Dennis 18:18, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Random Page
Needs to be more random. The first 20 or so pages keep repeating page after page. --GreenRabbit 11:54, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- It might be because it only links to articles not that small, and at the moment most of our articles are stub. Anyhow - it would be nice if a sysop would look into it. --Pierre 17:48, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Bolivia vs bOlivia
How about we switch to bOlivia instead of Bolivia? That confused the heck out of me the first time I saw it. I was wondering who this new obviously Spanish character was. -- Banaticus 01:49, 29 September 2010 (MST)
- - It stays as is. The closed-captioning from the originally aired episode used the name Bolivia in the closed captions, when she is talking and just off-screen and you can't see who is talking. Plus, the "commentary" on the recently released DVD boxset has a nice little conversation about this. The same way they refer to Secretary Bishop as Walternate on the creative staff... they refer to alt-Olivia as Bolivia -- citing Olivia-A, versus Olivia-B as the source. This is an archive - we report what THEY say/do... not what makes it less confusing. - –DocH– my edits 17:52, 29 September 2010 (MST) Even the PR photos of upcoming episodes have been using Bolivia. –DocH– my edits
Broken CSS?
I believe the CSS of the default skin needs to be fixed, because the background color should be white instead of blue. By adding the line
background-repeat: repeat-y;
to #content the problem is gone. -- rth 04:14, 10 October 2010 (MST)
- - Yes it does need fixing. We upg'd to 1.16 4 weeks agp and Dennis wanted vector.css as default. Haven't had time to tweak it just yet though. The TOC and ThumbImage backgrounds are bad because of that too. Word has been passed - expect action soon. - –DocH– my edits
- - The work order has been processed. We'll get to the task after the next airing (during the 3 week break). - –DocH– my edits 01:25, 11 October 2010 (MST)
Issues with Firefox
How come I can't add Fringepedia as a search engine on Firefox? I'm using version 3.6.13. I get the following message when trying to add Fringepedia as a search engine: Download Error - Firefox could not download the search plugin from: http://fringepedia.net/w/opensearch_desc.php. Is anyone else having this issue? Uhhuhhim 22:38, 27 January 2011 (MST)
- - I run in IE8 (6001.18999). The php gives me -- http://fringepedia.net/wiki/Special:Search -- or -- http://fringepedia.net/w/api.php?action=opensearch&search={searchTerms}&namespace=0 - both work for me. I even added FPedia as an accelerator along with Google, Yahoo and Bing... so I can search FPedia when it isn't even loaded. We haven't added any updates from MediaWiki since we loaded the basic 16.1 months ago. Maybe there is a fix we need to get to (if there is one?). - –DocH– my edits 00:42, 28 January 2011 (MST)
- I'm currently using Firefox 6.0.2, and I'm still having the very same problem as the first person.--TVsGrady 14:00, 7 September 2011 (MST)
Intriguing
I just noticed Olivia, Peter and Walter's faces behind the three menus on the top right corner of the page. OMG this show will never cease to amaze me. If I didn't fall off my chair getting excited when I saw the next episode will be out in a few hours I wouldn't have noticed. wow!. Is there anything special about the lines on the photos? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pauline (talk • contribs) .
The Other Universe
I think this would be an intriguing thing to add to the wikipedia, as, while rewatching Sseason 1, I noticed quite a lot of "hints" to this alternate world. Most of these hints are dismissed as mistaken memories from both Walter Bishop and Peter Bishop. I made one such notation in the talk page of Inner Child as a example. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fordianslip (talk • contribs) .
- - You are construing that those were deliberate references. They may have been. The Inner Child reference has other possible explanations, too. If you want to add them to FringePedia, you picked the right spot... the Talk Page for that episode. If you are certain you can support your assertion with fact - add a theory on that episodes Theory Page. It can't be added to the episode page because the alt-uni wasn't known about in early S1. We aren't building a new page just for this topic either... the data points are too few and far in-between. Talk Page. Theory Page. Those are the choices. - –DocH– my edits 14:13, 15 May 2011 (MST)
Multiverse NickNames
Could there be a section that clearly defines the names and colors of the four universes?
Over on AVClub we are using the following names more or less:
- Ourlivia
- Fauxlivia
- Amberlivia
- Fourlivia
We are not certain if the color of the fourth universe is emerald or yellow.
I also propose "Astridsperger" to refer to the fourth Astrid. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fustku1 (talk • contribs) .
- - I think you missed the point. This website is an archive of facts that were presented during the course of the story, not a chat room for cutesy fan club names. The color scheme has never been part of the saga, just part of marketing when the story wasn't being told. And nothing (not a thing) suggests that there are more than the two universes. Events since Peter's 1985 death are the only difference between these same two universes. Look here for a link to character pages. If they had a "nickname" in the course of the story, it should be on their page. This discusses the opening splash. –DocH– my edits 14:36, 28 January 2012 (MST)
