Screencap for "The Equation" clue?
It looks weird like that without it. --GreenRabbit 11:29, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- - Done, but I'm not completely sure what it's telling us. Someone please go to The Equation#Next Episode Clue and expand the caption on the image there.--Jim 18:23, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Ability Clue for Inner Child
At this point my best guess is about ARTS (a clue to The Artist). There are two large paintings in the background when Olivia asks Peter to locate the ZFT manuscript. There is also a full wall shown in the amusement park where Olivia gets the evaluation system. Any other ideas or comments?--LabGo 15:06, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- - Odd. I have been searching also. No luck. More ideas. Something to do with yellow or M & M's or candy. Something seen at the newstand. Something seen during the raid on the abandoned Jones hideout. Something about the broken, plastic baby doll in the fax. –DocH– my edits 21:02, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- - I'll have to go back to the Episode (and ignore the entertainment value).--Jim 21:15, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Clue for Earthling
Could it just be Peter's dream in Dream Logic? It refers to space exploration and are these Tinkertoy parts on the desk?--LabGo 16:44, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- - I went back and watched Dream Logic. Another possible clue is the logo on the hospital: W+ (W = watt) Referring to the batteries used to shock the cosmonaut? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dkc 568 (talk • contribs) .
- - Both good ideas. We need to really explore the screencaps to find the NEC. I was stumped before this. –DocH– my edits 04:17, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- - I noticed that in Dream Logic there is a sign outside the hospital that says "Positively No Smoking." As the projection of the cosmonaut looks quite a bit like smoke, and because the victims turn to ash, I thought perhaps this was a clue. I believe the only positive radioactive particles are alpha particles. Were they mentioned in the ep?
Clue in Midnight for The Road Not Taken
I also noticed in Midnight that the man who Valerie Boone picks up at the end of Act II says that she is "burning up," which could also refer to Susan Pratt bursting into flames. -- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HarshMelon (talk • contribs) .
- - The NECs are not verbal - they have all been visual. -- –DocH– my edits 19:28, 23 September 2010 (MST)
Season 3 Clues
I wondered if the clue in episode 301 "Oliva" (for "The Box") might have been the repeated signs for the musical "Dogs." Dogs notoriously can hear sounds outside the normal human range, and in "The Box" an inaudible, ultrasonic, sound wave is the cause of the fatal auditory events. (I'm new. Please be kind.) HarshMelon Talk FromMyMelon
- - The NECs are typically very "direct". Dog's having unique hearing and connecting that to The Box is 180 degrees opposite to "direct". Dogs was more of a alt universe sight gag on the play Cats - –DocH– my edits 19:11, 10 November 2010 (MST)
- - Following the science... humans hear to about 20 kHz and dogs can hear higher pitch sounds to about 35 kHz. Nothing would stop the Box from killing dogs that were exposed to it. Everyone is exposed to low kHz frequencies everyday. Ultrasonic is greater than 20 kHz for humans, 35 for dogs. The Box had to have a much higher (HF, VHF, UHF, SHF) freq with lots of power behind it. Oddly enough - the next ep is 6955 kHz. Both are in this universe. Hmmm? - –DocH– my edits
- - Yeah, I got the joke :-) It wasn't until subsequent viewings that I came up with the Dogs=High-Pitched Sounds theory. I knew it was weak, but it was the only thing I could find. I have an even weaker one for The Plateau and Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sheep but it goes way beyond "direct." Milo stayed at the Patricia hotel (the sign was visible), and Senator Van Horn's wife was named "Patricia." Obviously a coincidence.
- - And there was a Van Horn Tavern behind Milo during his badness. Que? My guess is that the next ep clue probably has more to do with family connection (Ray-shifter theme) than name-play. - –DocH– my edits
NEC for "The Abducted"
In the prologue, one of the icons for those chatting about the number code freq is a skull and crossbones. On The Abducted's episode page is a screenshot of containing a pirate flag (skull and crossbones). Is this the NEC? JBipes 14:13, 13 February 2011 (MST)
- - First, sign your comments! Second, we have seen the skull and crossbones before as the NEC for the "Shapeshifters". There were no shifters in Abducted that I remember. - –DocH– my edits
On the screencaps site for 6955khz, the 42nd photo shows a blurred 1 then clear numbers 7, and 9. The abduction victims were between the ages of 7 and 9 (synopsis in Act II). It could be that or another possibility is photo 29 which shows RECLUSE. The Candy Man was reclusive except when he snatched his victims. -- JBipes 16:26, 28 February 2011 (MST)
- - It helps when you re-watch, instead of just staring at images. RECLUSE 09 is a radio callsign. What is more interesting is that a callsign on the screen above had a skull and crossbone icon... –DocH– my edits
- - Can't re-watch, don't have it on my DVR, and no longer available on fox.com/fringe. You pooh-poohed the skull & crossbones idea when I posited it 3 weeks ago. Rethinking it?--JBipes 10:24, 1 March 2011 (MST)
NEC for "Earthling"
- The poster of the Challenger mission 11 in Peter's room during his dream must be the NEC. Challenger did not make an 11th mission flight, as it exploded shortly after takeoff on its 10th mission. This space accident correlates to the accident that the Russian cosmonaut had that created the events occurring in this episode. JBipes 09:29, 14 February 2011 (MST)
- On the Episode Guide page there is a direct progression of Season 2 episodes that goes from 210 (Grey Matters), 211 (Unearthed), 212 (Johari Window), etc. On the Next Episode Clue page there is no reference at all to the Unearthed episode. The link between the Grey Matters and Johari Window episodes may not be because the episodes are not consecutive (Unearthed aired in between).
I realize that the DVD set for Season 2 has the Unearthed episode as an extra (on Disc 6) with the Johari Window episode after Grey Matters on Disc 2. This incongruity may make NEC/Easter Egg hunting very near impossible. --- Thoughts? JBipes 10:01, 14 February 2011 (MST)
- - You don't seem to read much before you comment. Somewhere you have a "Search" window on this page - type in "Challenger" - then hit search. You should get 8 hits, plus this page. Read around first. The Challenger thing has already been addressed. Also search on "NEC Candidate" - We have pages with comments dedicated to the missing Images of NECs. Not too hard to reseach (read, think, comprehend) before commenting, is it?. No more spoiler comments about unaired episodes, either. Once you have seen the show, feel free to make a NEC suggestion. –DocH– my edits 12:45, 14 February 2011 (MST)
NEC for "What Lies Below"
Trying to flesh out the NEC for this episode I found that when Walter is in the Harkness Law Library retrieving his stashed files on Edina and Project Elephant, a box is noticed labeled "Magellan Files". This could correlate to his relating the story of Magellan's voyage in the first act, and Astrid's reminding Walter of it in the final act. The lesson of Magellan that Walter gave seemed to be present throughout the story. JBipes 16:08, 14 February 2011 (MST)
NEC For Next Episode
OK, I violated spoiler policy apparently. Are episode titles considered spoilers? If not, then I know the NEC from "Immortality" for 2/18s show. Games987 19:32, 14 February 2011 (MST)
- But you don't know because the show has not aired. you suspect you know. I suspect you may be right. the point is it not a topic for you to discuss until very late on 2/18. So why waste time (mine in particular) by raising the issue before the fact. –DocH– my edits
- As requested, I have waited until the episode aired. I'm fairly certain the NEC was the license plate on the second victim's car during "Immortality." It included "6B" which is the title of the most recent episode, as well as the location of the Fringe activity. Games987 11:26, 19 February 2011 (MST)
Northwest Passage Clue
The game "OPERATION" seen in Brown Betty refers to the operations happening (brain operations) in the next episode. Per the commentary track from the episode on DVD, this was unintentional at first, but fit as the NEC for Northwest Passage. JBipes 15:49, 19 February 2011 (MST)
Reciprocity Clue
Of several things I looked at to be Reciprocity's NEC, the wooden duck decoy on the window sill behind Roscoe Joyce when Walter and Olivia first talk to him struck me as indicative of Zach Alpert's use of the dummy to decoy Peter into thinking he had killed Zach, springing the trap on Peter. I couldn't really get any other candidate to fit in as a possibility. What do you think? --JBipes 15:55, 28 February 2011 (MST)
- - My thought is the same that is was yesterday, when you first posted the question. –DocH– my edits
- - Sorry, DocH, but I've checked the other place I posted this and can't find your thoughts anywhere. Help this poor soul, please. I enjoy contributing my ideas and would like to continue doing so, but searching vainly for your comment on what I posited makes it frustrating. --JBipes 18:48, 28 February 2011 (MST)
- - You posted. I had a thought. You posted the identical thing. I had the same thought. I never said I posted that thought. Reading is good. Ohh - you want me to share the thought. No? - –DocH– my edits
"Unearthed" clue for "A New Day in the Old Town"?
How does a "clue " from a show that aired four months later refer "back" to that episode and be a "NEXT EPISODE CLUE" when you already established the NEC with Season One's last show??? --JBipes 17:36, 28 February 2011 (MST)
NEC for Nothing As It Seems
As Peter enters the Observers apartment, he scans the room and we are shown a calendar depicting a porcupine, suggesting the porcupine-like creatures being created. -- JBipes 18:05, 31 March 2012 (MST)
NEC for A Short Story About Love
As Jones' men are dragging an unconscious Peter through the hall of the old hospital where they are keeping Olivia and the other Nina, they pass a door marked 'Burn Unit'. The killer in tis episode appears to have suffered massive burns at least about his face and hands as indicated by the massive scarring evident. -- JBipes 19:12, 31 March 2012 (MST)
- - Someone already dropped the image in the suggestion box. He could have had chemical burns based on his prior professional perfumery skills, or confined-space taskings. Call OSHA and EEO... they fired a handicapped employee for cause. –DocH– my edits 19:35, 31 March 2012 (MST)
- - Yes, but whether chemical burns or fire-caused burns, he would still be treated in a burn unit, no? --JBipes 20:41, 31 March 2012 (MST)
- - I wasn't saying no, just adding a thought. I wished they had mentioned his condition though. What if it is genetic, viral or bacterial in nature? Then saying it is a burn would be a guess on our part (and wrong) - which you know I worry about. –DocH– my edits 21:46, 31 March 2012 (MST)
NEC for The End of All Things
In the prologue of the previous episode, a book titled 'Wisdom' is seen to Peter's right on the table. Possibly suggesting what he learns from the Observer while in his consiousness. --JBipes 18:15, 31 March 2012 (MST)
- - Seems vague. Is isn't every episode about that... sort of. –DocH– my edits 19:35, 31 March 2012 (MST)
NEC for Novation
The picture of a truss bridge in Cameron James's apartment is suggestive of Dr. Malcolm Truss, former Massive Dynamic researcher who is needed by the shapeshifters to correct their skin problem. --JBipes 20:36, 31 March 2012 (MST)
