Attention re: AUTHORS page

Rats! Having trouble with the discussion screens.  !) I want to agree that the "authors" page is documented well on the portal page for the production of Fringe, so I agree the "authors" page be deleted. Now do you have all the numbers/letters from the Massive Dynamic billboards?--Hurtinfrog 14:15, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

UAQ Answered?

Why would Walter recognize Nancy Lewis?

- I pulled this UAQ back to the talk page because I believe that it was addressed, in the context of the show.
From the transcipt - Act 5.1 - Walter: I've seen this woman before. But why does she look so familiar? Peter: Maybe because you dissected her twin sister yesterday. Remember? Blond girl about 5'- 7". Really well done. Melted fillings. Walter: Oh, right.
- I think he recognized the face - not the name. Face was identical, being a twin and all, name was different, as they were raised separately. –DocH my edits 22:47, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Did Walter ever see her face? Her body was completely charred when he examined her. Unless he saw an ID photo of her or something, I don't think thats it. --Evil Joe 00:16, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Of course he did. At 11:30 (runtime on my PC) he removes the jaw and gives it to Astrid. In the same scene, about 1 minute later, she gets a 100% positive dental record ID on her PC (picture on NY license #523745855) - which Walter comes over and looks at. I just double checked. –DocH my edits 04:01, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Excellent. Solved.--Jim 14:09, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Good call, Doc. I didn't remember him looking at it and didn't have a chance to rewatch the episode. Thanks for confirming. --Evil Joe 20:18, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I believe he recognized her because him and William Bell did the drug trials on her, her sister, Nick, and Olive when they were kids in Jacksonville, Peter told him it was because he dissected the twin, and he only accepted it because he couldn't remember the truth. --Dustinthewind
- Lenox Hill is the hospital Susan Pratt wanted to go to before she blowed-up. It is a real hospital in NYC with two campuses just east of Central Park, not far from Park Ave. www.lenoxhillhospital.org –DocH my edits 02:50, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Tone dialing on cell phone

Has any heard or seen such a function on any cellphone? The GSM and all later systems transmits the number digitally before the voice channel is established, so how could Olivia dial using the tones? If this is some kind of sound recognition software, it seems to be way too accurate for tones recovered from a piece of glass.--Billc.cn 16:44, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

- Good question. Back in ancient history before cell phones, one could buy a digital assistant on which phone numbers could be stored. Placing a call on a standard touchtone phone simply required waiting for a dial tone then pushing the "call" button on the assistant while holding it close to the mouthpiece of the phone. That's probably more than anyone wanted to know, but would enhanced technology take away functionality? That has happened before.--Jim 17:50, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- Better yet. Let's petition Bad Robot to put "Wicked-Cool Cellphone Applications" in the opening splash next season, right behind - Teleportation and Psychokinesis, but just before - Transmogrification and Nanotechnology. (perspective?). –DocH my edits
- I agree that the tones (pitch/note/octave) extracted from the window would not likely be exactly the same as from a standard phone. But, whatever key they were in when derived from the toasted window - they still should be proportional and relative to one another. Easy to adjust (sliding scale) like a Caesar Shift to find the correct tones. –DocH my edits 19:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- On the iPhone 3GS the app DTMF Decoder will perform a similar function by identifying and showing the user the number based on the dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF); the user will then have to manually dial the given number. Using GoldWave sound-editing software to clear up the sound clip of the DTMF from the episode, and running it through a DTMF decoder, it appears that the number dialed on the episode and that of Sanford Harris is (703) 555-0147. --Evmore 23:44, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Corrections I'd like to see

I'd like to suggest the following additions / corrections to the page because they contain significant additional material, clarify the description, and/or correct text.

ACT I

1. Replace 'types out a single word: "Mystery." Both the letters 'y' are oddly raised' with "types out a single word: "prophesy." The letter 'y' is oddly raised"

ACT II

1. After 'filled with gray and black clothes', add "just like Nick Lane's"
2. Replace 'as though an explosion of some kind took place there' with "as though a fire took place there"
3. Replace 'The first is from Susan Pratt, who says Winters told her to call if anything strange started happening. The second call is Susan Pratt again, scared this time, wondering what is happening to her.' with "The first is a hang-up, the second is from Susan Pratt reminding Winters that she was to call if anything strange started happening, the third is a hang-up, and the fourth is Susan Pratt again, terrified and wondering what is happening to her."

ACT IV

1. After 'As Olivia goes to pick up the telephone', add ", it turns red and"
2. Replace 'Charlie has nothing new and seems uninterested. They have half of Boston in a quarantine lockdown, and she's worried about a pair of twins?' with "Charlie has nothing new and seems perplexed that with half of Boston in a quarantine lockdown, she's worried about a pair of twins?"
3. After 'the office returns to normal', add "when someone bumps into her"

ACT V

1. After 'Later', add "Peter arrives with a glass cutter while an FBI forensic team is working"

ACT VI

1. Replace 'who seems to be losing control of her powers' with " who's pyrokinetic powers are being activated"
2. Replace 'Through the intercom, Harris says Olivia must be aggravating Nancy even more than she aggravates him' with "Through the intercom, Harris says Olivia "managed to activate her before we could" "
3. After 'Peter returns to find Walter in tears', add a new paragraph with "Nina Sharp arrives at Philip Broyles home in the evening with pictures of the Observer taken in the previous 24 hours. She reminds him of what happened when this last occurred and says they have to talk."
4. Replace 'the missing chapter of the ZFT manuscript' with "a complete copy of the ZFT manuscript"
5. Replace 'The elevator door opens and two men in dark clothes wearing ski masks point a silenced pistol at her and fire twice into her chest.' with "The elevator door opens and she is confronted by two men in dark clothes wearing ski masks with silenced pistols. One fires into her chest and she collapses."

Unanswered Questions

1. Add "When Nina's phone conversation is interrupted, what does she not want them to do before she gets there?"
2. Add "Are Olivia's abilities occurring more frequently unintentionally as a result of efforts to activate the other Cortexiphan children?"
3. Add "When Olivia is experiencing deja-vu, is she sharing conciousness with her alternate reality self?"
4. Add "When Olivia is in a conversation while experiencing deja-vu, is the other alternate reality person experiencing the conversation too?"

- Corrections incorporated. Good catches again. The gray/black clothing (like Nick Lane) is a recur theme... they made no point of comparing her clothes to his, in the context of the show. –DocH my edits 03:57, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Continuity error?

How was it possible to find both Pratt twins dead from spontaneous combustion in alternate universe (and it was red one because sign was telling us that Bell is here) if there were no cortexiphan trials conducted therefore twins got no source for their pyro abilities? --Dimonium 20:05, 3 March 2011 (MST)

- How about a different drug trial? A weird experimentation on twin by Intrepus (or any scientific company) over there? Or someone crossed over with Cortexiphan and treated on the twins - and hence, go spontaneous combustion ala the guy who able to do telekinesis in Immortality? Or they didn't die because of spontaneous combustion... maybe someone set fire on them? There are a lot of different possibilities. Remember that the parallel universe can have the same events but not necessarily same cause. -- Xerophytes Talk | Contribs 20:33, 3 March 2011 (MST)
- They may have originally intended for Olivia's vision of the Boston in flames to be the alternate universe, but as the idea was most likely not fully formed as of this episode, I do not think we can say that this was the "red" universe knowing what we know now. We know that the FBI was disbanded 10 years ago (The Abducted), yet the people in this vision of Olivia's were wearing vests with "FBI" written on them. Although Charlie shared his red counterpart's scar, they were in an FBI office, not the same place where we see the Fringe Division constantly in Season 3. This may have just been a vision Olivia had of yet another universe, as referenced by Walter in this same episode, every choice leads to parallel universes, not just one.--Yeah 22:22, 3 March 2011 (MST)
- Neither of the alt-Pratts had any Cortexi-abilities, they were just a couple of sisters that were on their way to lunch. Our girl that self-toasted, her pyro outburst flared over into the alt universe... effectively toasting three Pratt's in the single meltdown process. She flamed out here and there. A few seconds later and she would have fried different pedestrians in alts-ville. - –DocH my edits 01:28, 4 March 2011 (MST)

Spellcheck

Act VI: Nina Sharp arrives at Philip Broyles home in the evening with pictures of ‘’the Observe’’ taken in the previous twenty-four hours. She reminds him of what happened when this last occurred and says they have to talk.
