September's Real Purpose and Mistake in Walternate's 1985 Lab
Described Hypothesis:
September's real purpose was to distract Walternate from finding the cure for Peter. This was to prevent Peter and Bolivia from having a child (named Henry in the series 1st timeline) by causing Peter's death. September's mistake was in not factoring in Walter looking in from the Blueverse, crossing over and destroying both universes in an effort to save Peter. The moment was important because it was an opportunity to prevent Henry's birth.
The entirety of the first three seasons dealt with the attempt to fix September's mistake and prevent the destruction of the two universes. This was important to the Observers because of their plan to invade and take over the Earth in 2015, and that would not be worth while if it were just going to be destroyed in a little more than a decade. Peter was important because he was the one who would use the machine to create the bridge and save both universes from destruction.
Peter, in turn, was erased not only because he served his purpose in creating the bridge, but because he and Bolivia had a child, Henry. Stopping Henry from being born was the whole point of September being in Walternate's lab in the first place.
Henry, the child of Peter and Bolivia, must have been seen by the Observers as having some negative impact on their plans to occupy the Earth. They see futures and must have seen Henry as John Conner to their Skynet.
Henrietta, in turn, may have the same negative impact on their occupation of Earth that her erstwhile brother, Henry, would have, except she has a talent for hiding what she is from the Observers. This may be because she is given a treatment of cortexiphan (new & improved formula?) in 2016, at the age of four, just before the last time she saw her parents. But the Observers were too myopically concerned about Henry and dismissed the threat once they were sure that Peter and Bolivia would never get together. Henrietta will blind-side them - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
     Supporting Facts And Supporting Evidence:
  1. September referred to Henry as a child who was 'never meant to be' and an example of the corruption of the timeline. This seems to be a rather harsh judgement on an innocent baby. So if Peter had survived and grown up with Walternate in the Redverse, wouldn't he have met and had a child with Bolivia? And wouldn't that child have been Henry? And wouldn't that child have been 'never meant to be'? - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
  2. It always struck me as odd that if Peter was important, why would September have saved him to grow up in a foreign universe? Shouldn't Peter have grown up like he would have, without September distracting Walternate, in the Redverse? - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
  3. Why would the event of Walternate discovering the cure for Peter be important? Only if Peter was important. But Peter was important only to create the bridge and the bridge would not have been needed unless September had distracted Walternate. Ergo, Peter was important for another reason before September distracted Walternate. That reason: fathering Henry. And the event in the lab was important because it stopped Peter from existing to father Henry - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
  4. The Observers are liars and spies who even lie (or speak in a shared subtext, intended to be disingenuous) to each other. E.g., They said Peter never existed even though they knew he had existed as a boy until he drowned in Raden Lake - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
  5. The Observers are very cognizant of their actions and how it affects the probabilities of what they are observing. They can even phase themselves so that bullets can't hurt them. That September was so incompetent that he distracted Walternate unintentionally is nearly unbelievable. That he simply did not factor in Walter viewing from the Bluverse is much more believable. - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
  6. Although September told Peter directly that distracting Walternate was unintentional, he may have been disingenuous. He may have led Peter to misinterpret his words intentionally. And actually meant that he distracted Walternate in a manner that was meant to look unintentional. - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
     Contradictory Facts and Contradictory Evidence:
  1. September told Peter straight out (in "The End of All Things") that his distraction of Walternate in the lab was unintentional. - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
  2. September may have said that Henry was 'never meant to be' only because Peter was really meant to be with Olivia and Henrietta was the child who was 'meant to be.' - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .
  3. The Observer 1985 pow wow outside the Redverse theater showing "Back to the Future" is consistent with September's error being distracting Walternate. - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by homi jᴚ (talkcontribs) .

  1. Not immediately able to immediately vocalize the thoughts, after a few moments of "tuning in" he was able to speak Peter's thoughts before Peter vocalized them.
  2. Thoughts are electrical signals within the brain.
  3. Electrical signals produce electromagnetic fields based on the strength of the signal.
  4. Thought signals travel from the brain to the vocal cords at very high speeds.
